A Press Conference was held at
noon in front of KPFA, and shifted one door north in front of the now-vacated
Pacifica Office at 1925 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Speakers shared information
and disgust at the censorship of Pacifica Network News. Here's one of the Press
Releases and more information.

 A
crowd waited for the beginning of the press conf. slightly before
noon

Aaron Glantz, Sacramento Reporter and striking PNN Reporter began
the Press Conference and explained that Pacifica has not
communicated,
nor even supplied their new phone number in Washington, DC for opening
talks.

Jo Ann Kawell, left above,
National Writers' Union, Bay Area local steering committee member,
former bureau chief at Pacifica Network News from 1983-85,
former NPR producer gives some background from her own experience.
|
Jo Ann Kawell said, "The type of direct censorship
of news personnel and
programming which Pacifica management has been engaging in
throughout
the network's recent crisis would be reprehensible at any US media
outlet,
not just one which claims to present an alternative viewpoint."
